Here's How it Works

Here is some more information on redeeming your certificate: At this time we are giving Scenic Demonstration Flights by appointment only. Please call (651) 653-1631 or email info@rwsa.org to make an appointment.

Here's how it works:
  1. We operate weekends and most holidays April-November weather permitting.
  2. The weather must be OK... meaning it’s not raining, or winds blowing above 20mph.
  3. Check our scheduling page here for additional operating information. Normally there will be a Tow Pilot, FOO (Field Operations Officer) and CFIG (Instructor) listed for the day if we are planning on operating.
  4. Call our club phone (651) 653-1631 before venturing out. It’s normally answered from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM during days we are operating. A club representative should answer and will provide more up to date information on the operations for the day. The phone is typically not answered on weekdays.
  5. Be prepared to spend 1-3 hours at the airport. There can sometimes be a wait as flights are on a first come first served basis. Everyone's friendly, so the time goes pretty quickly! We also have a club house out of the weather you can relax in and have a cool drink or an ice cream bar.
  6. Make sure to bring your confirmation number and also your camera!
Note: All aircraft have weight restrictions. Our gliders can typically accommodate passengers up to 240 pounds.

Once you're ready to go to the airport:
Our address is Hangar H-1, 617 68th Ave, Osceola, WI 54020
  • Take WI35 1 mile south of Osceola, turn east onto 68th Ave, which is the road that follows the south side of the airport.
  • Follow 68th Ave about 1/4 mile. We have a parking area just past the 'fire truck company'. There is a sign in the parking area "Red Wing Soaring Association, Park Here'.
  • You may see cars and equipment parked near the road another ¼ mile further east on 68th Ave. You can drive directly to that location if you so choose.
  • If you stop at the parking area, RWSA is located in the big brown hangar (H-1).
  • If no one is around to help, call our club phone at 651-653-1631. Please don't walk out to the runway! If you don't have a phone, you can walk down the taxiway towards the runway, but stay clear of the runway. Watch out for aircraft. You will see us at one end of the runway. Try to catch our attention. We'll come pick you up in one of our golf carts.
