Osceola Airport Procedures

The purpose of standardizing procedures for managing gliders on the ground and in the air is to provide users of the airport with some guidelines for sharing the airspace, runways, and taxiways. Any operation that involves the use of these areas should only be undertaken while monitoring the CTAF for conflicting traffic, and should be announced on the CTAF prior to starting the operation. Bear in mind that the pilot of a King Air 350 or a Learjet 55 is very busy in the pattern and will be counting on radio communication to avoid traffic. Remember that your primary responsibility is always the safe conclusion of any operation, so these are guides, not laws.
For a number of reasons, standard procedures at OEO may change form time to time. Whether you are FOO, Pilot in Command, or helping to ground-handle a glider, you are a member of the "safety chain" and it is your responsibility to be familiar with the current operational guidelines. The complete Operational Guide is available here as a PDF.
