Membership Information
Membership Information
All members of the Red Wing Soaring Association own a share in
the club assets. Members are also expected to do their share of the work, i.e. assembling the
gliders at the beginning of the season, disassembling them at the end of the season, maintaining
the hangar area, and acting as a Field Operations Officer the few times each year. These duties
are light and no members are expected to do all the work.
Membership Types
Individual Membership (Equity Owner)
Individual members own a share in the club assets (known as
equity). Members are expected to do their share of the work; e.g. assembling the
gliders at the beginning of the season, disassembling them at the end of the
season, maintaining the hangar area, and acting as a Field Operations Officer a
few times each year. These duties are light and no members are expected to do it
all.
Family Membership (Equity Owner)
Family memberships include one adult and one child under 23
years of age, or a married couple may share a club membership. Family members
have all the same privileges and responsibilities of an Individual Membership,
except that they get only a single vote between them. An additional $50 per year
(annual dues) is the only cost associated with the family membership.
Youth Membership (Non-Equity Owner)
Youth membership is a non-equity membership designed to
provide a cost effective method for youth to pursue interests in soaring and
aviation. Youth members are still required to pay annual dues currently set at
$100. The applicant must be 22 years of age or less, the minimum age being 14,
and those under 18 must have written parental or guardian permission. Youth
members do not have voting privileges and there is no equity share buy-in or
equity payout upon resignation.
Equity Level Options and Annual Dues
A number of equity levels and financial options have been
created to provide flexibility to prospective members based on their financial
situations. Prospective Individual or Family members can join at any one of
three options; Full share, 2/3 share and 1/3 share. All equity owning membership
levels have equal flying and voting privileges in the club. Share equity values
are evaluated annually and adjusted if necessary.
1/3 Share:
Equity: $600 (one time investment)
Annual Dues: $550/year
* Resignation Refund: 25% of current 1/3 share
2/3 Share:
Equity: $1,200 (one time investment)
Annual Dues: $475/year
* Resignation Refund: 62.5% of current 2/3 share

Equity: $1,800 (one time investment)
Annual Dues: $400/year
* Resignation Refund: 75% of current full-share
* Resignation Refund: Members who choose to resign will be
refunded a portion of their equity based on their share level at the time of
their resignation.

For
members that would like to retain their membership share but relinquish flight
privileges, an annual due of $100 is available.
